The End: What To Do While We Wait

In the last days scoffers will come scoffing and follow their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this coming he promised? 2 Peter 3:3-4

Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.  All these are the beginning of birth pains." Matthew 24:4-8

Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:9-13

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24:37-39  

 

In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. 2 Thessalonians 3:6

We were not idle when we were with you. 2 Thessalonians 3:7

If a man will not work, he shall not eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27

1. We must be diligent first about loving God and others.  

Heart:  Your heart represents your emotions.  The way you feel inside.  
Soul:  Your soul involves how you decide.  It is your will.
Strength:  It involves what you do.  What you put your energy to.  What you give you life for.  
Mind. Your intellect, the way you think. Your thoughts.

2. We are to be diligent in fulfilling Jesus' great commission.  

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20
