Love God and Love Others

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Mark 12:28

"The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.'" Mark 12:29

1. You were made to love God.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30

For God so loved the world, that he gave is one and only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

This is what the Lord says, "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23-24

2. You were made to love others.

The second is this: "Love your neighbor as yourself." There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31

Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good deeds and glorify the father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

…enjoyed the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:47

“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions. Mark 12:32-34
