Lifeline: A Lifeline for Loneliness

The Harvard study found that…

·  36% of all Americans feel lonely most of the time or all of the time. It gets worse though for young adults…
·  61% of all young adults report feeling serious loneliness.
·  2/3 of the same young adults shared that they feel like they have no one who believes in them.
·  12% experience daily thoughts that are in some form of comparison.
·  It gets worse for High School girls where 50% of them in 2019 reported they were experiencing severe forms of sadness or loneliness.

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18

He is a liar.

He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44b

He is an opportune lion.

Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

He is a thief.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy… John 10:10a

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10b

1.      Hope our relationship with God

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4

2.      Hope us that God is with us.

And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8

3.      Hope our passion for relationships

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25
