It's Not Supposed to be This Way: What Happened?

The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17

You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, O guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth… Ezekiel 28:12-17

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep… Genesis 1:2

…the spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:2

Satan was created in a place called Eden. Adam and Eve were created in a garden God called Eden.

Satan was given a free will with the ability to choose. Adam was created with the ability to choose.

Satan had direct access to God. Adam walked with God in the garden.

…has come to steal, kill and destroy. John 10:10

Now the serpent was much craftier than any of the other wild animals the Lord God had made.  He said to the woman, “Did God really say, 'you must not eat from any tree in the garden?'" Genesis 3:1

We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ Genesis 3:2-3

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:4-5

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3:6-7.

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, "Where are you?” Genesis 3:8-9
