Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, & Philemon: Week 8

Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, & Philemon: Week 8

Philippians 4, Colossians 1-4, and Philemon and Reflection of Matthew, Galatians-Colossians, and Philemon

We have made it to week 8 of our course where we are studying the books of Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. During our Bible study time this week, we finished the books of Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon! Can you believe you have now read all 6 of the books of the Bible that we set out to study together?  Let’s spend the next few minutes discussing the final chapters you read over the last week as well as reflect on all of the books of the Bible that we have studied over the last 8 weeks.

Philippians 4, Colossians 1-4, and Philemon Discussion and Reflection of Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon

Philippians 4, Colossians 1-4, and Philemon Discussion

  1. What particularly impacted you during your Bible study reading this week?

  2. Reflect on Philippians 4. Why did Paul have joy even amidst the suffering and difficulties that he faced while he was writing the book of Philippians?

  3. Read Colossians 1:15-23. What does this passage of Scripture reveal about Christ and how are we to respond to this truth about Him?

  4. Look back over Colossians 3 and 4. Is there any area of your old life before Christ that you have not died to? What is one way you can begin dying ot that area of your old life this week?

  5. What was unexpected about Paul’s request of Philemon in the book of Philemon, and what does his request reveal about how we are to treat those around us?

Reflection of Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon

  1. Matthew made it abundantly clear throughout the book of Matthew that Jesus is the King. As King, He deserves our full obedience. Is there a step of obedience that you have been avoiding? What step can you take today toward obedience?

  2. In a number of the letters of the Old Testament that we read, Paul spoke out against false teachings. Are there any false teachings that you have discovered that you have fallen prey to, and how can we guard against these false teachings when they arise?

  3. What stands out to you about Paul and his faith from his letters that you read throughout the past few weeks, and what is one way you can follow the example he set?

  4. How does the Scripture you read over the last 8 weeks bring hope, even amidst the difficult times that you have faced or are currently facing?

Now that you have read the entire books of Matthew, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon, think about one specific thing that stands out to you after reading these books and how you can apply that truth from God's word in your life. Share this with your group. Then, pray for courage and boldness to apply what you learned from these six books of the Bible over the next few weeks and beyond.
