Congratulations! You have made it to this final week of this By the Book Course. That means that you have read the entire books of Mark, 1st and 2nd Timothy, Titus, and 1st and 2nd Corinthians. Let’s dive into our discussion of 2nd Corinthians chapters 6–13, your reading from last week. Throughout these last chapters of 2nd Corinthians, Paul continues to teach the church in Corinth, encouraging its members and us to follow Paul’s example when he said, “We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry” (2nd Corinthians 6:3). After all, each one of us has a ministry to know Christ and make Him known all around us.
1. What particularly impacted you during your Bible study reading this week?
2. Read 2nd Corinthians 6:3–10. How did Paul model a ministry set apart for Christ?
3. Look back at 2nd Corinthians 7. What was the result of Paul’s “severe” letter that he wrote to the church in Corinth, and what does their response teach us about “godly sorrow?”
4. What did Paul learn through his “thorn in the flesh” in 2nd Corinthians 12? How have you seen God’s power be made known through your weaknesses?
5. Read 2nd Corinthians 13:11. What does it look like in our world today to “grow to maturity?”
Is there an area of your life that is not “set apart” for Christ? Maybe there is a sin you need to turn from. Perhaps God has been calling you to do something that you have been putting off. Perhaps “making Christ known” has not been a priority in your life. Whatever area you have been holding back from Christ, share that with your group, along with a step you can take toward handing that area of your life over to Christ. After everyone has shared, pray together. Ask God to help each one of you take steps to live lives that are set apart for Christ in all areas.
As this study comes to an end, our hope is that you have formed a habit of reading Scripture every single day. Do not let this habit stop here! Keep reading Scripture. Keep studying your Bible, one chapter at a time, every single day. We have created resources to help you continue this habit of daily Scripture reading that are available on the Sagebrush app, including our Bible reading plans and daily devotions. Please utilize these resources to help you stay consistent with reading your Bible every single day. This simple, but profound habit will change the course of your life if you stick to it!
