Can you believe it is week 5 of this By the Book course where we are reading the entire books of 1st and 2nd Timothy, Titus, Mark, and 1st and 2nd Corinthians together? Last week, you first read the book of 2nd Timothy, the final, very personal last letter written by Paul before he was killed in Rome. Then, you read the book of Titus. The Scripture we read encouraged all of us to be people who live with integrity, committed to being fully devoted followers of Christ. Let’s dive in and reflect on our study of the books of 2nd Timothy and Titus.
1. What particularly impacted you during your Bible study reading this week?
2. What are the reasons Paul gives in 2nd Timothy 2 for enduring suffering and working hard?
3. Read 2nd Timothy 3:16–17. What does Paul teach us about Scripture in these verses, and how have you seen this to be true in your own life?
4. Summarize Paul’s attitude and his final words in 2nd Timothy 4. What would it look like for us today to follow his example?
5. Reflect on what you learned as you read Titus. What stands out to you about how followers of Christ are to live, in and outside of the church?
The words that Paul wrote in 2nd Timothy 4:7 are some of the last recorded words from Paul before his death. They serve as a great reminder for us to live with eternity in mind. As a group, commit this verse to memory. Take a few minutes to individually work on memorizing this passage of Scripture. Then, break out into groups of two or three and take turns reciting this verse. Let this verse be a reminder to you to follow Paul’s example as you go throughout the rest of the week.
Watch the 1st and 2nd Corinthians Introduction Video, where Pastor Todd will introduce both of the books of 1st and 2nd Corinthians, giving us helpful insight into these books of the Bible so that we can better understand them as we read. These two books of the Bible are a reminder to us to live differently than the rest of the world, guard against false teachings, and stand firm in our faith.
