Mark, 1st and 2nd Timothy, Titus, 1st and 2nd Corinthians: Week 2

Mrk,1 Tim, 2 Tim, Tit, 1 Cor, and 2 Cor: Week 2

Mark 2-8

Congratulations! You have officially completed the first week of this By the Book course! As you read from the book of Mark over this last week, you were reminded of Jesus’ power and inspired by the examples of faith that are found in Mark chapters 2–8. Today, let’s dive in and reflect on our study of these chapters of Mark.

  1. What particularly impacted you during your Bible study reading this week?

  2. What can we learn from Matthew’s responses to Jesus’ invitation to follow Him in Mark 2?

  3. Reflect on the chapters of Mark that you read over the last week. How was Jesus’ power displayed throughout the chapters that you read?

  4. Throughout your reading, who demonstrated great faith, and who did not? What is unexpected about the people who showed great faith and the people who did not?

  5. What did Jesus rebuke the religious leaders for in Mark 7? In what way do people fall prey to their line of thinking today?

Mark chapters 2 through 8 are full of reminders of Jesus’ power. They show His power over nature, over the enemy and demons, over the law, and more. The question is, will we have faith in Him and His power in our lives, even areas of our lives that are difficult or we do not understand? What area of your life do you need to have faith in Him and His power? Share that with your group. After everyone has shared, pray. Ask God to give you all the courage to trust Him and His power in all areas of your lives.

Assignment for Next Week:

Read Mark chapters 9–15 using your Study Bible. Read the Bible study notes that correspond with the passage of Scripture you are reading. As you read, use your journal we provided for you to complete the SOAP method for each chapter of Mark that you read.
