Real Love – Week 4

Talk to your child about things that they find important and why they find those things important?

Read Matthew 22:34-40

Why do you think Jesus said loving God is the greatest commandment?
Read 1 John 4:7-10

Touch on how and why God showed His love for us by having His Son die for us.
How do we show our love for God in return? What does that look like?
How does this lesson go with the loving your neighbor lesson? (week 2)
What are some ways we can show God that we love Him this week? How do we go about doing that?
 

See if your child is thinking about making Jesus in charge of their life if they haven't already. If so, talk to them about what that looks like. Close in prayer. 

Some easy ways to start living this out:
 

1. Pick a consistent time to read the Bible.
2. Stick to that time.
3. Parents, ask questions about what they read and go over it with them.
4. Start with a random act of kindness for this week, such as helping out around the house without being asked to or doing something nice for a neighbor (with parent's help and permission). If parents are comfortable with it, invite over a friend who is going through a hard time right now.
