I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! Psalm 121:1-2
Let me tell you a story of God's faithfulness today. Several months ago, someone made a really bad door ding in my car. Last month, I took my car to the shop to be fixed, and I got my rental car. Before I got my car, I decided to pray. I asked God to provide with my rental car. I wanted a car that I felt comfortable driving and was safe. Imagine my surprise when they gave me a Jeep Grand Cherokee to drive, which was the car I have always liked and wanted to drive. It may not sound like much to you, but it brought such a smile to my face. I asked God for help, and He answered. He provided me with not just what I asked for; He gave me more than I asked for. My friends, as we consider the trials and difficulties we face, we must look to God for help. In fact, Psalm 121 is a reminder for us to look to God for help in troubled times.
Psalm 121:1-2 says, "I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!" I recently learned something about this verse that changed my entire perspective on what the Psalmist meant when he wrote those words. You see, I found out that the mountains that he would have been looking at, known as the Eastern Hills, were not tall. This means that they were not going to provide much protection from enemies or help. Knowing this, the Psalmist knew that help and protection needed to come from somewhere else. In fact, he knew that it needed to come from God, the very One who made the world. He goes on to say that the Lord will not let us fall. He is with us, watching over us. And that, my friend, brings more comfort than being surrounded by 1,000 of the tallest mountains.
What about you? Does the situation you are facing seem too difficult to face on your own? My friend, look to the Lord for help. Ask Him for His help. Ask Him to walk you through your trials. He, the Creator of the World, is big enough to walk with you through any challenge that you face. Turn to Him today.

I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber.Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
